It is ironic and possibly prophetic that the Nashville Statement (NS) was published the very same day that I released a short film on LGBT people in the church titled Dear Church: I’m Gay. I think these two “statements” represent two brands of evangelical approaches to questions about faith, sexuality & gender. These two brands overlap quite a bit; they both agree that marriage is between a man and a woman and that all sexual relations outside this type of marriage covenant are sin. That’s a big overlap. However, there are many differences in tone, rhetoric, and how to go about this whole conversation. In some ways, the Nashville Statement brought these differences to light.

I've been interacting with Lisa Diamond’s fascinating book Sexual Fluidity: Understanding Women's Love and Desire. In my previous post, I summed up Diamond’s conclusions about sexual fluidity and ended with her thoughts about the whole nature vs. nurture debate. 

The Gospel Coalition just published a review of my two books, People to Be Loved and Living in a Gray World. The author of the review was Anne Paulk. As a writer, I enjoy good, constructive criticism of my work, and I’m so thankful to have people in my life who give it to me. Since I’m not Jesus, everything I say contains a mixture of truth and error, and I’m on a mission to weed out the latter.

Well, that title’s going to attract a wide range of readers. I’ll never forget reading Lisa Diamond’s book Sexual Fluidity: Understanding Women’s Love and Desireat my kids’ afterschool events and getting some rather strange “ewe, what a creeper” looks from the other moms. 

 had the pleasure of interviewing my new friend Rob Wood. Rob is the co-author of the forthcoming book Satisfaction Guaranteed and has also jointly launched a new website called Satisfied in Christ (http://satisfiedinchrist.com), which is aimed at helping Christians who experience same-sex attraction. 

There may be good reasons for believing that homosexuality is a sin, but there are also some very bad reasons. For what it’s worth, I don’t even like the phrase “homosexuality is a sin.” I explain why in my book People to Be Loved.

April 5, 2015, Easter Sunday was the first time in 23 years I stepped foot in a church. Having struggled with Same Sex Attraction, the Evangelical Church severely damaged me and wiped out my faith by treating people with SSA with hate, rejection, and disgust.

It’s been a couple weeks now since I’ve engaged Megan DeFranza’s book Sex Difference in Christian Theology. It’s been a crazy busy month, which included a last minute week-long hunting trip outside of Billings, Montana.

As stated in my previous blog, there are many things I appreciated about Ken Wilson’s book, A Letter to My Congregation. I need to say this up front because this blog is going to be pretty critical.

Ken Wilson has written a very important and provocative book on homosexuality and the church. Ken is the founding pastor of Vineyard church in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and has been thinking about questions related to homosexuality and the church for many years.

I posted a blog on Monday titled “Why a (yet another) White, Straight, Male Decided to Write Book about Homosexuality.” The blog was a response to some buzz created online regarding the release of my two books being published on homosexuality

I just found out that the release date for my books about homosexuality ( adults and another for teens) got moved up from the original Jan 2016 date to Nov 2015.
