#758 - What does it mean to be human? A conversation with Dr. Marc Cortez

Preston is a big fan of the work of Mark Cortez, so this conversation is long awaited! Marc is a specialist in the discipline of theological anthropology; in particular, the relationship between the mind and the body. After spending the first 30 minutes discussing theological anthropology and various approaches to the mind-body relationship (e.g. physicalism vs. dualism), Preston and Marc banter around about trans-related questions as they pertain to theological anthropology and why a biblical view of embodiment should reframe how we think about diet, exercise, sleep, and health.

Marc Cortez is Professor of Theology at Wheaton College and Graduate School. A former youth pastor, he now teaches and writes on a variety of theological issues, focusing particularly on issues related to the nature of the human person. He has authored and edited many books including most recently ReSourcing Theological Anthropology (Zondervan, 2018), Come Let Us Eat Together! Sacraments and Christian Unity (IVP Academic, 2018), and Christological Anthropology in Historical Perspective (Zondervan, 2016).
