Eternity Bible College

My role at EBC

I am an Associate Professor of Biblical Studies at Eternity Bible College, where I teach several Bible classes (mostly Old Testament). I am thrilled to be a part of this new school. Check it out: www.eternitybiblecollege.com

EBC is a very unique place. It's focused on serving the church by producing students who not only know the word of God but live it out with passion. Here's a few things that make EBC such an amazing place:

Sola Scripture. Here at EBC, we push our students (and fellow staff members!) to think rigorously through the text. By the second year, every student will have read through the OT at least 3 times and the NT at least 1 time. Rather than telling them what to believe, we point them to study scripture to form their beliefs. I mean, really comb through the text and soak themselves in the biblical narrative to gain the massive view of God that Scripture beautifully sets forth.

Debt. Or shall I say, NO DEBT! While other Christians schools spend exuberant funds to construct large multi-million dollar buildings, pad administrative staff with 6 figure salaries, and build glamorous athletic programs, we decided to strip all this away in order to do what we believe a Christian instituation should focus on doing: teach the word and disciple the saints. Here at EBC, you don't have to come from a rich family or go into debt in order to learn the Bible. You just have to work a part time job to pay for the $175/unit classes we offer. Or you can give us $50 and we'll let you audit any class you want. And when you graduate, you will be freed up to do something constructive for the kingdom, like buy a one-way ticket to Africa to work in an orphanage, because you'll be debt free.

Relationship and Authenticity. Our professors are highly relational, both with each other and with the students. In fact, every year our president has a couple students live with him so he can get to know them better. Our classes are often geared around discussion, Q & A, prayer, rigorous study, and after-class conversations. There are no "Dr's" or "Mr's" or "Professor's" here at EBC. Don't get me wrong, I teach alongside some of the most gifted teachers I've ever heard. But we work hard at not making much of ourselves or elevating our status above our students. Around the campus, I'm Preston, our president is Josh, and our other faculty are Yvonne, Mark, Jon, Spencer, and so on.
